Golden Vale Milk Sportsmanship Awards for 2011 take centre stage this Sunday evening in the Rathkeale House Hotel at 5 pm. This is the highlight of the year for many boys and girls not knowing at first they were nominated. Those who have been selected are anxiously awaiting their category to be presented. Community Games with Golden Vale Milk introduced this event some years back and from its title it is recognising sportsmanship. Down the years we have seen so many boys & girls emerge from these awards to continue to shine with distinction. It definitely underlines the Irish saying “mol an óige agus tiocfaidh siad”. The Community Games have numerous awards divided into teams, individuals and age categories. The nominees are Awards 2011

In it, boys U13 indoor soccer the first rounds all completed with Our Lady of Lourdes & Caherdavin through from the second round with the remainder of the 2nd round as following; 3 groups of three with 2 teams advancing.

Draughts were the big attraction also at the weekend with two centres setting the stage Kilmallock and Shanagolden. We congratulate both areas for providing such excellent facilities. Ballingarry/Granagh were in excellent form having 4 teams through to the last round being played on Sunday the 5th February.

Draughts took centre stage in 3 locations at the weekend - 343 competitors took part spread from Ballylanders to Glin and Ballingarry to Caherdavin. All began at 11am and by 2pm the mornings concentration had ended with 188 competitors going forward to next weekends second round.

Golden Vale Milk Limerick Community Games
On last Saturday evening in Croagh Sports Hall, the large crown who assembled for the girls U15 Indoor Soccer Semi-Finals & Finals were treated to a fantastic display form all teams.
The first Semi-Final saw Rathkeale and Askeaton/Ballysteen go head to head. This was a much anticipated game and one could only marvel at the skill of Trish Nestor in goals for Askeaton/Ballysteen. This is a very very skilled young lady and is looking at a bright future between the goal posts, everybody sang her praise, however Rathkeale emerged winners of this semi-final and met Bruff Grange Meanus in the Final and went onto secure the gold.
